We were so fortunate to have a such a perfect sunset at the Santa Monica Pier to shoot an engagement photoshoot for our lovely couple. The 2 hour engagement session at this vibrant L.A. landmark was done by Steve of Stunning Bride Photographers. The Santa Monica Pier also has a romantic significance for this couple, making it the perfect site for the proposal (and worth the expensive parking). The most difficult part of the shoot at the SMP were the tourists galore! However, everyone was more than happy to step aside for the newly engaged couple.
Even if you’re not planning a proposal, it’s worth going for the people watching, restaurants like Bubba Gump Shrimp, and the cart vendors that sell cotton candy and Dippin Dots ice cream. It’s a melting pot of people, cultures, food and happiness. I’ve been coming to the Santa Monica pier since I was a kid and have always appreciated it’s magical effect on people.
One thing to stay away from are the churros from the vendors on the boardwalk. Those things are so hard, you could break a tooth, biting into one.
Win a stuffed animal from one of the arcades for your fiancé, talk about romantic! Take a ride on the vintage ferris wheel, the roller coaster, or visit the aquarium. There are also a number of bars and restaurants, but the best feature is the view: extending almost a quarter mile over the Pacific, you can stroll to the edge.
